Eminem Named King of Hip-Hop by Rolling Stone Magazine

Rapper Jay-Z may be the king of cash but when it comes to hip-hop, Eminem is king, according to Rolling Stone magazine. The music publication crowned the Detroit rhyme-spitter the King of Hip-Hop after crunching several figures together including album sales, YouTube views, social-networking presence and concert ticket sales between 2009 and the first seven months of 2011.
Following behind Eminem at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, on the list are Young Money superstars Lil Wayne and Drake. Weezy was praised for his “staggering live grosses” and online presence, while Drake was given props for his chart-topping song releases.
The ‘Watch The Throne’ duo Jay-Z and Kanye West finished at No. 4 and No. 5. This might shock a few of their fans, but the magazine is ranking their overall work from 2009 until now as oppose to what’s happening presently surrounding their big album.
Only one lone female rapper appears on this Hip-Hop Kings List and that is Nicki Minaj at No. 6. The magazine editors acknowledged the rap starlet’s reign with her platinum-selling album ‘Pink Friday,’ sold-out shows and outstanding guest features, particularly on ‘Monster,’ in which she bodies the entire track featuring West, Hov and Rick Ross.
Rounding out the top 10 was Rick Ross (No. 7), Ludacris (No. 8), Gucci Mane (No. 9) and T.I. (No. 10).
