Lily Allen Tells ELLE UK She Misses Singing

It’s her third cover for the fashion magazine and this particular issue has two separate covers (one for subscribers, one for the newsstand) of the fashion forward singer, who actually owns her own boutique, Lucy in Disguise, with her sister.
The ever-stylish Allen was a bit more edgy and punk rock for her last ELLE spread, but this time out, she opts for classic and classy. She is a mom-to-be, and despite having suffered two previous miscarriages, her attitude is upbeat and as cheeky as ever, and her attire is grown up without being matronly.
Allen, who channels Old Hollywood glam with her wavy raven hair and her form-fitting frocks, doesn’t “skirt” any controversial topics in the accompanying feature. The curvy singer is candid and forthright on a variety of topics, from her body shape to her relationship to her propensity for having a big, honest mouth. More importantly, though, Allen talks about how much she misses singing, since she hasn’t been as active with her music career lately. All in due time, though.
Here’s an inventory of some of Allen’s choice cuts from the article.
Her singing career: Allen hasn’t done much musically as of late, with her last album, ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You,’ having landed in 2009. “I really miss singing my songs to people and seeing the reaction on their faces,” she mused. Hurry back to the studio, Lil!
Her party girl lifestyle: She ditched her wild ways when her new hubby — then boyfriend — Sam Cooper became concerned. She said, “I was deeply unhappy most of the time. I wasn’t eating and then going out at night. By four o’clock, I’d have had four glasses of wine. It’s not the way to be. But then I met Sam and he noticed that behavior.”
The quest for thinness: Allen didn’t like trying too hard to be skinny. “When I was really skinny … I wasn’t myself at all. I was deeply unhappy most of the time. I wasn’t eating and then I was going out at night. When you’re not eating you have to distract yourself with other things.”
Her relationship with Cooper: He clearly adores her, as she said, “He loves every piece of my body and makes me feel brilliant about myself.”
On speaking her mind: Even though being forthcoming and speaking without a filter can get her in trouble, Allen doesn’t care. She said, “I cannot censor myself because I’d die of boredom.”
In an accompanying video from the cover shoot, Allen says she feels both honored (or “honoured,” if you want to use the British spelling) and privileged to have been selected for her third ELLE UK cover.
