Janet Jackson Cancels Indiana State Fair Show, Maroon 5 Relocates Concert Following Sugarland Tragedy

Janet Jackson Cancels Indiana State Fair Show, Maroon 5 Changes Venues

Janet Jackson has pulled out of her Indiana State Fair following last weekend’s stage collapse, which killed five people and injured dozens. Maroon 5, however, has opted to change venues and perform as planned on Thursday, Aug. 18.
On Aug. 13, just before Sugarland was about to take the stage, 70 MPH winds caused the mobile structure to fall to the ground, causing the tragic accident. Jackson, an Indiana native, was set to play originally, but instead of rescheduling, she bowed out of the performance all together.
“Due to the recent tragedy at the Indiana State Fair, officials have cancelled all of the concerts that were scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 17, including JANET,” an official statement on Jackson’s website read. All ticket holders will be granted full refunds.
Maroon 5, who are on tour with Train, has decided to relocate their show, rather than canceling it entirely. “The Train and Maroon 5 concert on Thursday, Aug. 18 has been relocated to Conseco Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis,” a statement on their website read. “All previously purchased Train and Maroon 5 tickets for the show at the Indiana State Fair will be honored at Conseco Fieldhouse on the night of the show.”
According to WICB.com, the artists, Indiana State Fair and Conseco Fieldhouse will donate all proceeds from the concert to the Indiana State Fair Remembrance Fund.
