AMBASSADOR DR. JUMA MWAPACHU APPOINTED NEW CHAIRMAN OF COUNCIL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DODOMA

The president of the United Republic of Tanzania H.E Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete has appointed
Ambassador Juma Mwapachu the new Chairman of the University of Dodoma with effect from 14th

September 2011, the position he will serve for  four (4)  years
Ambassador Mwapachu takes over the position left open by the founding Chairman H.E Dr. Mohamed
Ghalib Bilal who assumed the position of Vice President of United Republic of Tanzania in November
2010
Prior to his appointment Ambassodor Mwapachu has served as Secretary General of the East Africa
Community. Prior to this position he was Ambassador of Tanzania to France with accreditation to Spain,
Portugal, Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria
Ambassador Mwapachu who holds an LLB, a postgraduate Diploma in International Law, and a Doctor
of Honoris Causa of the University of Dar es salaam, has served and held senior positions in both the
Government, Private and Civil societies. Ambassador Mwapachu was the first Tanzanian University
graduate to join the police force in 1969.
Ambassador Mwapachu has also sat on Board of Directors/Executive Committees of various institutions.
He has successfully served as a vice- Chairman of the council of the University of Dar es Salaam.
Ambassador Mwapachu also holds several professional honours and membership and has authored and
edited journal articles and four books including his most recent;confronting New Realities:Reflections on
Tanzania’s Radical Transformation.
The Management and the community of the University of Dodoma would like to welcome and wish him
